After a lot of experimenting with both sides of aluminum foil, we’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter which side you turn up and which down. The bright and dull sides of aluminum foil exist due to the manufacturing process and they do not affect food preparation in any way.

Can aluminum foil catch on fire in the oven?

No, aluminum foil is made out of thin metal and it won’t catch on fire in the oven. Metals do not burn so easily. The average temperature of an electric oven is 400 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, and for aluminum to burn is required at least double the temperature. However, aluminum foil could start a fire when put in a microwave oven and therefore it shouldn’t be used there.
